CE marking for industrial products and machinery

Secure, certified compliance under the new EU regulations

The CE marking is the mandatory requirement for placing industrial products, equipment, systems or machinery on the European market. From 20 January 2027, the new EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 [link to Machinery Directive and new regulation page] comes into force, updating the EU declaration of conformity. Enginext guides businesses through this regulatory transition to make sure every machine complies with both current and upcoming regulations.

What Enginext’s CE marking service covers

Enginext’s CE marking advisory service supports businesses through the complex practical and documentary management involved: from technical and regulatory advice through to gathering every declaration needed to obtain the certification, which is essential to sell and use the product.

- CE marking

The Enginext team carries out a preliminary technical conformity analysis: it verifies compliance with the essential health and safety requirements (EHSRs), performs the gap analysis and identifies the corrective measures required.

The service includes safety tests and functional checks, as well as the risk assessment. Enginext coordinates the technical checks required. For products that require the involvement of a notified body (“Notified Body”), our team manages and supervises every aspect of the work.

The final stage involves drafting the CE marking technical file. It includes drawings, schematics, calculations and user manuals. Enginext prepares the declaration of conformity and supports the client through to the physical application of the mark.

Areas of application

Every sector has its own rules. Enginext applies vertical protocols for different product categories.

CE marking for machinery

Support for CE marking on presses, complex plants and production lines. Management of special machinery and robotic cells. Verification of functional safety and control systems.

CE marking for construction

Compliance for materials and components for the construction sector under Regulation (EU) 305/2011. Management of laboratory testing and factory production control (FPC).

CE marking for special products

Advice for complex or highly customised products. Analysis of prototypes and innovative solutions. Management of non-standard certification pathways.

Everything with a single
point of contact

Managing compliance calls for multidisciplinary expertise. Enginext operates as a sole coordinator: we plan every step and organise the different phases of the work, from design to product testing. This approach shortens time to market and keeps technical documentation fully aligned with field checks.

Who we work with

The service is designed for those operating (or planning to operate) in the European single market:

Manufacturers

and builders of industrial machinery.

Makers of hazardous products

that require third-party checks.

Converters and body-builders

modifying existing machinery.

Start-ups

launching new technology products on the market.

Notified bodies

that need external advisory support to manage their clients’ applications.

Why choose Enginext

Here’s why you should rely on an experienced partner like Enginext:

Frequently
asked questions

You need to assess whether the change affects the original safety of the machinery, since substantial modifications may require new marking, whereas “simple” changes only call for an extension.

CE marking is a self-declaration by the manufacturer. Enginext provides the technical and documentary advice needed to sign it with confidence. If a notified body is required, we coordinate its involvement.

No. It is mandatory only for product categories for which the European Union sets specific requirements (harmonisation directives/regulations). The first step is to work out which legislation applies to your product and which conformity assessment procedure is needed.

At times, external notified bodies are required for specific tests, such as those related to vibrations. Enginext coordinates all the Notified Body’s verification activities, and the body provides the report to include in the technical file.

It depends on the case. When the technical file is missing or the manufacturer can no longer be traced, the Machinery Directive pathway may be unworkable. In these cases we assess alternative routes (such as the reference to Annex VIII of Legislative Decree 81/2008, Italy’s Consolidated Workplace Safety Act) that allow the safety requirements to be met and, where needed, access to sites and grants to continue.

From that date, Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 will permanently replace the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. For all machines placed on the market from that moment, the technical documentation and the EU Declaration of Conformity must comply with the new requirements, including those on cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

A product certified under the old directive does not automatically need to be re-certified. However, if a change is made that conflicts with the new legislation, the extension pathway will have to follow the new rules.
