Track and laboratory tests: automotive testing
Every type of test, for vehicles in every category
Enginext coordinates every automotive testing activity required to bring products to market under Italian and European regulations. We provide the technical support needed to pass the most complex dynamic and static trials. We manage direct relations with the Authorities to support full regulatory compliance of vehicles in every category, including mobile machinery and agricultural machinery, both as individual vehicles and in series.
What Enginext’s automotive testing covers
Our partner Enginext Lab is an Inspection Body accredited under ISO 17020 and ISO 17021 and carries out the testing and inspection activities required for type-approval in the automotive sector. We can handle the whole process, from design consultancy to conformity analysis (Gap Analysis) and testing, or simply the technical inspection. Our procedures deliver the highest level of transparency and formal correctness.
Testing plan and scheduling
We identify the specific tests the applicable regulations require for your product. We build a bespoke testing plan to optimise timelines and corporate investments. We arrange access to the necessary test equipment at qualified laboratories: careful planning that significantly reduces the waiting times between test sessions. We handle prototype logistics with the utmost care during every transfer to the testing centres.
Testing and verification of operations
Our specialist engineers oversee every automotive testing session carried out on track or in the laboratory to certify the integrity of the vehicles under real-world stress conditions. Enginext LAB operates as an accredited inspection body following the strictest international ISO standards, and we continuously verify compliance with the regulations throughout the tests. If a test comes back negative, we provide a detailed analysis document to quickly resolve any issues identified.
Management of the technical inspection dossier
We draft the summary technical dossier with the results of every inspection carried out. We handle the submission of the files to the competent Authorities for the issue of final type-approval. Our documentary precision, built up through years of sector experience, helps prevent administrative delays and market hold-ups: every document produced is verifiable, objective and compliant with national and European ministerial requirements. The client can therefore rely on end-to-end administrative support through to the definitive closure of the process.
Automotive testing: areas of application
Safety and performance
We handle every area of automotive testing with the latest technologies, including crash tests to verify occupant protection and structural strength. We run EMC tests to rule out harmful electronic interference between the different components.
Electric mobility and software
We rigorously handle the battery tests (automotive battery testing) for the safety of vehicles with high-voltage powertrains. We carry out electric car testing and testing of the energy upgrade kits for internal-combustion vehicles. Our work supports full compliance of the technological conversions aimed at sustainable mobility [link to Electric vehicle and Retrofit type-approval]. We also verify every electronic control logic through automotive software testing, and protect digital systems from cybersecurity risks through security checks.
Technical components and systems
We run tests on individual electronic units, lighting systems and stand-alone technical components, using the most advanced tools for in-depth diagnostics of interconnected systems. Our service is essential for anyone who needs partial certifications to place aftermarket components on the market, and supports the compliance needed for national and European type-approval [link to National and European type-approval of vehicles, components and systems] for every type of vehicle.
Everything through a single
point of contact
Enginext acts as a single coordinator through a dedicated, efficient project management service. Frequently
asked questions
Do you run all automotive tests in-house?
The tests require highly complex, specialist equipment. We handle many technical measurements in-house. For particular checks we rely on trusted, qualified partners we have worked with for some time.
How long does the testing phase take?
The duration depends on the complexity of the vehicle or component being assessed. Test outcomes also affect the final schedule. If issues arise, the test has to be repeated after the technical problems are resolved. That is why we recommend bringing Enginext on board as early as the design phase.
Do you issue the final certification?
The certification is issued exclusively by the competent Authorities. Enginext takes care of the consultancy, inspection, control and testing needed. We manage the entire administrative process to obtain the type-approval code.
What happens if the test is not passed?
If the outcome is negative, we provide a detailed analysis document on the issues identified during the official inspections. This allows the necessary technical adjustments to be made. Once the issues are resolved, the test is rescheduled.
Is automotive end-of-line (EOL) testing available?
Yes. We run End-of-Line checks to verify that every unit produced meets the technical specifications before delivery. This process supports the proper functioning of each vehicle’s electronic and mechanical systems.
